What is the difference between acute and chronic pain?
Acute pain comes on suddenly, usually because of an injury. It feels sharp in nature and is often specific to one part of the body. It tends not to last longer than six months. Tends to be caused by incidents such as broken bones, burns, pulled muscles, fever, and infection.
Chronic pain is ongoing and typically lasts longer than six months. It can continue after an initial injury or illness has gone, as pain signals remain in the nervous system. Chronic conditions include back pain, arthritis, nerve pain, shingles, and fibromyalgia. Beyond the pain it causes, effects of chronic pain include limited mobility, lack of energy, depression, and anxiety.
What conditions can Lumina assist with?
Currently, we have a fully developed program for primary headaches. We will be releasing the following Lumina Programs in the course of 2022/ 2023: fibromyalgia, cervical spine, chronic lower back pain, shoulder pain and knee pain. Sign up to be notified as soon as they are available.
