Professor Capdevila is a full Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine and Chair at the Medical University in Montpellier, France. He is the Head of the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at Lapeyronie University Hospital, Montpellier, France. He is a member of the Inserm Unit U 1298 of the Montpellier NeuroSciences Institute. He was president of the Scientific Committee then president of the French Society of Anesthesia and Critical Care Medicine and is President of the French College of Anesthesiologists-Intensivists. Professor Capdevila is also Executive Handling Editor for Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine and Associate Editor for Anesthesia Critical Care and Pain Medicine.
Pain specialization: Prof Capdevila’s focuses lie in perioperative medicine, regional anesthesia techniques, postoperative use of continuous regional blocks, acute postoperative pain, and postoperative rehabilitation, highlighting patient's outcome. This has led him to more than 270 per reviewed clinical and experimental studies on the interest of regional blocks for postoperative pain relief, perioperative rehabilitation, and ambulatory surgery in adult or pediatric orthopedic patients as well as experimental research fields in myotoxic and neurotoxic effects of local anesthetics.
